This sort of fascist alliance between the government and the medical and pharmaceutical industry has been going on for at least a hundred years. For a detailed account of this, read a book called Murder by Injection by Eustace Mullins. Basically, this all started with John D Rockefeller in the early 1900s when he made early investments in the pharmaceutical industry and then proceeded to take over the medical schools by donating money with the caveat that they were to have their people appointed to the boards of these medical schools and have complete control over the curriculum, which they then turned completely to a pharmaceutical-based approach. They then proceeded to do the same thing with the medical boards and medical associations and medical research where they placed their stooges at the heads of these organizations and then convinced Congress to give them sole authority to determine medical treatments that would be allowed and to use the policing authority of government to not only take away the licenses of doctors that refused to comply with their orders but also to jail anybody who made claims that were contrary to the official doctrine from these organizations. Probably the most egregious example of this is with the cancer research industry and the suppression of treatments that were either demonstrated to work or showed great promise to work (even for patients that had being determined to be terminal by their oncologist) and the legal persecution of those who refused to be cowed by the intimidation from the likes of the FDA and the American Medical Association.
