What she says in the first part of her speech is entirely correct that Russia had drawn a line in the sand that they would not accept Ukraine as a part of NATO or the European and that the West is responsible for fomenting these aspirations of Ukraine, and yet goes on to condemned Russia invading Ukraine for exactly the reasons she cited. It is not a great speech but rather a speech of self-contradiction.

I think that the take away is that she actually mentioned the Ukraine neutrality issue in the German parliament that is the reason for the Russian actions. Though it appears that it fell on deaf ears in parliament. cheers

Also i don't think that it is a self contradiction to state that the 'reason' for Russian aggression is that Russia's warnings and concerns over NATO expansion, Ukraine neutrality and the victimisation / bombing of the Russian speaking Ukraine population have been continually ignored for 8 years, whilst also saying that you do not 'condone' Russia's actions and their effects on innocent people. She is pointing out the 'why' whilst not justifying it. cheers
