giottoking, where did you get the idea I was "upset"? Actually I find the "flat earth" movement to be the biggest, longest lasting "trolling" episode in the history of the internet. That in itself I find kind of humorous though that feeling quickly changes to a sort of sadness when I realise how many people fall for this utter garbage due to a lack of basic education an the inability to understand simple observations on their own. Maybe the elitists trying to sterilize the majority of the worlds population with a "vaccine" is a good thing though I think not. Now that being said, you seem like a nice enough person so even though I hate writing I will try to give an explaination of what's going on. First, the earth spins on it's axis while that axis rotates around the sun. The time it takes for the earth to spin on its axis, not from the point where the sun is at its apparent zenith in the sky is 23hrs 56mins and 4.06secs, not 24 hours. The sun at its zenith from one day to the next zenith is 24 hours. Here's one way of understanding the difference in times .. lets say we have a jar lid with a picture on it. Lets orbit it around a clock .. at the 12 position with the writing is straight up as you see it. Now rotate the jar lid one full turn as you move it around the clock to the 3 position. Notice the top of the lid no longer points directly away from the center of the clock. That difference is where all the fun starts. The earth only rotates on its axis 364 times in a year. The axis rotating around the sun is in itself the 365th day. Then there's the .2422 days to bring the axis back to its starting point, about 8760 hours total. This shit makes my head hurt. Now, here's a question for you my friend. How do flat earthers explain the coriolis effect? They can't. One thing I must give flatearthers credit for is their open mindedness and their questioning of the standard science. Thanks for playing!
