Well, you forgot about Refraction. When light reaches our atmosphere, it refracts. Two, I believe it was James Maxwell who determined light was traveling in waves 93 million miles from the Sun. Einstein later confirmed it. The atmosphere is actually a lens where the combination of the colors of light displays a blue atmosphere, and with added moisture, or lack of moisture, can change its appearance into shades of red. Hence, "Red sky at night, sailors delight." "Red sky in the morning, sailors warning." I know, that's a fact, I worked many a day on the water. When light refracts it will illuminate on the backside of buildings or objects. The Lord was perfect in everything he created, and to this day, 13000 years plus, mankind still are discerning and discovering newer aspects to and of light.

13,000 feet tall in an otherwise featureless plain.......they are talking about a "dome shaped highland...."...so....it is not a dome overhead.....it would have to be more like 113,000 feet to be maybe overhead.......

The dome would have to be over 93 million miles away, solar flares prove it. Science still cannot predict the speed of a solar flare accurately, but they're close. We see the remnants of solar flares with the northern lights in Norway. Which lights up the whole country at night. Our atmosphere repels the harmful radiation from the Sun and the North Pole attracts it, forming the northern lights. I guess he can't explain that one ?
