If tuberculosis is transmitted from person to person via airborne aerosols, why is there not a global pandemic of tuberculosis? Tuberculosis is endemic in many third-world countries. "In 2018, one quarter of the world's population was thought to have a latent infection of TB.[6] New infections occur in about 1% of the population each year.[12] In 2020, an estimated 10 million people developed active TB, resulting in 1.5 million deaths" (Wikipedia). But there are daily flights between these countries and developed countries. People from developed countries visit developing countries, interact with the people, and then return home, and vice versa. Why does this not lead to an epidemic of tuberculosis in the developed world?

Good question. This applies to MANY diseases that are prevalent in "third world" nations, not just TB. IMHO this is where susceptibility comes in. People from developed nations are generally much healthier, better fed etc. When they say "in 2018, one quarter of the world's populatoin was though to have a latent infection of TB" that means most of those people have TB under control due to their immune system. Healthier people in developed nations do even better. Although I cannot prove this, very likely people from the developed nations who travel to and from western Africa get Ebola all the time and fight if off, contrary to the hype. As with COVID, deaths and serious cases are concentrated in susceptible persons, the extremely poor in Africa etc., the frail elderly in the US.
