Studied in Germany in the late 80s. Not a teaching degree, but had to take a few courses that were also obligatory for teaching students. They cared about a) a job with plenty of holidays and b) shaping kids' minds They didn't care about any content. There were 2nd and 3rd year students who still didn't know what subjects they were going to teach because they didn't give a flying fuck about that
