For English press 0...show more... Η έκφραση "other side of the pond" (στην άλλη μεριά της λιμνούλας) αναφέρεται στον Ατλαντικό ωκεανό που χωρίζει την Βόρεια και Νότια Αμερική με Ευρώπη και Αφρική. Το περίεργο είναι ότι πουθενά στους γνωστούς μας χάρτες δεν βλέπουμε τη στεριά και τους ωκεανούς να σχηματίζουν "λιμνούλα"! Εκτός αν δούμε τον χάρτη της αζιμουθιακής προβολής που απεικονίζει όλες τις ηπείρους και σε σχήμα κυκλικό, όχι σφαιρικό! https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yacO2uhI_R8/maxresdefault.jpg I'm thinking that we are like frogs that were born in a small pond on a mountain somewhere on Earth. The little creatures have no idea that there is another pond very close...so they think that the whole world is the pond that they were born! Same thing like us humans. So how come there is a phrase "the other side of the pond" talking about an ocean on a spherical earth, that is clearly not surrounded by land.
