Six years ago the Washington Post was terrified by the record lack of major hurricanes. Now they say major hurricanes are getting worse because of the burning of fossil fuels.

So I am here in Safety Harbor, Florida and recently observed, first hand, major discrepancies in what was being reported versus what I observed first hand by simply stepping outside to see. The wind here was far less than what was reported at the time. In addition, I noticed that the weather alarmist reporters kept referring to 'hurricane force wind gusts' of x MPH. This is intentionally deceptive, in that according to the weather service current definitions, conflating gusts with hurricane force winds is incorrect, as the time element is related to the destructive force, and a 'gust' is not a hurricane force wind. Storm surge is indeed highly destructive, but if you build on sand barrier islands, which are essentially sand bars, what are you really entitled to expect? Our government lies to us. Fear porn is what it is called. H.H. Mencken's observations about the purpose of the government lies is entirely correct.
