The Malthusian conjecture, so beloved of the eugenicists and anti-humanists and the architects of the Great Resent, has no basis in actual empirical science. Hans Rosling has been studying the real data for some forty years and reaches different conclusions. It is a pity that so much policy is based on credible-sounding BS, rather than facts.
