A cashless society is created by way of inflation so you can't use cash to purchase or pay for anything. Should a meal at a local restaurant costs 2000 dollars, you're not going to pay for it in Cash, it'll be paid by debit/credit card. They'll blame the inflation on you but really they are causing the inflation so you have to consider a cashless society. Gold is Gold and it's worth is 1640.35 an ounce. There's no reason not to increase the worth of your currency so as to reflect the worth of Gold, but if you want to play the game that there is no gold standard, go ahead, but you'll never have enough money in the bank if you do !
I think I understand what you mean to say, but the way you said it is inaccurate. Gold is worth 1640.35 what? Dollars? ... but the value of the dollar is steadily dropping, so is the value of gold also steadily dropping too? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think what you are trying to say is that the value of gold remains relatively constant and thus the money should be once again tied to gold so that the money's value will remain relatively constant as well. If I got that wrong, I look forward to hearing from you.
