So, what's their excuse today? That the majority of scientists and the data they collected were all wrong back in the 70s? If they were that wrong, how can they assert that ANY historical data is accurate enough to even create models to attempt to predict anything? The basic logic doesn't even make sense, and it's pretty frightening how so many "qualified" "educated" people today can't see it. We're all being messed with, and I don't understand why.

It is the reasoning of fanatics. The fundamentalist Christian sees the hand of God in every event that happens, the communist fanatic interprets every event as proof of dialectic materialism, and of course the doomsday fanatic of whatever creed sees irrefutable proof of their lunatic creed all around them. Those who take a more sober view and analyse each event, with an aim to find the actual cause, are vilified as perverse unbelievers motivated by evil intentions, in league with the Devil or the capitalist oppressors. It is a line of reasoning which leads to witch burning and gulags.
