White House Doublespeak

  - 3:48

Joe Biden blocked the Keystone XL Pipeline for ten of the last fourteen years in order reduce the supply of oil and thus drive prices up. This hurt the US and Canada and has been a windfall for Russia.

I don't understand how blockhead Biden - or anyone for that matter, can block any company from doing any legal business, like installing the keystone pipeline. That is just totally un-American. No POTUS, nor any politician should have ANY say over trade - unless they are doing something illegal - and that should be up to the state they place the pipeline through. The feds should have zero say about anything like that!

Apparently, Psaki doesn't have the least awareness of the fact that a lot of the oil from western Canada to Eastern Canada is actually shipped through the United States pipeline system. She seems to think it's all dedicated to shipping oil to the US only. If you are wondering why, it is because Canada has had its own problems getting approval of pipelines within its own borders, with Northern Gateway being fully approved and then being shut down by Trudeau by banning oil tankers off of the west coast (even though tankers from Alaska go through the same waters) and the Energy East pipeline being refused approval after the same company, TC Energy, spent a billion dollars or more on the approval process. Enbridge was behind Northern Gateway and also spent billions getting it approved. We do have approval for expansion of the TransMountain pipeline through British Columbia, but that was obtained after the federal government made things so onerous for the original private pipeline company that they cancelled the project and sold it to the federal government, who has had cost overruns on that pipeline so far over 10 billion dollars. That pipeline would have been done long ago by the private company but is still a long ways off from being completed.

What is not covered in this video is the fact that the company that applied to build Keystone XL, which is now called TC Energy, is suing the US government for 15 billion dollars. It will be in the courts for years I am sure, but the US government will probably lose because TC Energy had already spent billions of dollars trying to get the approval and buying pipe and doing preliminary work obtaining access to land for the project. I believe the lawsuit is also based on abrogation of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the approval by Trump and then the subsequent withdrawal by Biden.

This is why business and government should be separate. Neither works on the same principles. Or in the case of government, any principles at all. Unless you count the hunger for power as a principle.

Joe Biden is the most consistant politician the U.S. has ever had at being exactly wrong.
