Sigh. Not knowing history (or not researching it before committing to publication) while making draconian claims certainly suggests an ulterior motive. I suspect this basement dweller came outside on a hot day and ran back down to hurriedly put together something about a "new" heat record somewhere. "Mine's bigger than yours!" Down here in SW FL we had a series of record highs two or three summers ago and the weather broadcasters breathlessly announced each one, and never failed to insinuate global warming due to Climate Change. Well, fast-forward three or so years and guess what. We've had an amazingly tolerable summer down here this year, AND THE CO2 KEEPS ON GOING WHERE IT'S GONNA GO. It's been very quiet down here on the climate emergency front...

Ok, so if all your stations have record highs set in different years, then most of your station set a record high all in the same year. If you have all these stations setting records in the same year then that's definately the hottest year on record. I understand that the records don't go back prior to the 1950s, but it's certainly reasonable to argue that this year is the hottest year recorded.
