It’s reported in the press that this, this, this and this,’ so they have that validation that the press reported the smear, and then it’s called the ‘wrap-up smear.’ Now I’m going to merchandise the press’s report on the smear that we made.”

For sure, in the longer video she is accusing the Republicans of using the tactic, I'm sure they have at some point, but this is a KNOWN and commonly used political tactic, your people leak a story to friendly press, then other news agencies quote the story, then you reference the story as being "talked about" in the news, then you market and weaponize that. This has been done so many times, the most recent example being the "Trump said veteran are suckers and losers" bs in the Atlantic
